The Top 10 Common Fat Loss Mistakes You Shouldn’t Do In Your Weight Loss Journey.
Introduction:
You do everything you can to lose weight, but you see no progress. It is frustrating. It is very challenging and takes a lot of effort and willpower. You Google it and try different tips and tricks for better results, but you make a few common mistakes regularly, and you neglect these mistakes.
In this article, we will discuss some of the most common mistakes that you make when you start your weight loss journey. Of course, exercise will help you reduce weight. I will also tell you about my experiences so you have a better idea of my mistakes.
1) Skipping Meals:
At the beginning of my weight loss journey, I thought that if I ate less and skipped meals, I could burn more calories and help lose weight fast. But I was wrong because, after some time, as I skipped my meals, I often remained hungry and ended up overeating at my next meal. Because of skipping meals, most of the time, I felt tired, and for that reason, I often missed my workout sessions.
So, if you are planning to skip your meals to lose more weight, you are making the wrong decision. Eating patterns have a huge impact on your body during weight loss. If you eat the same amount of food frequently throughout the day, it will speed up your weight loss journey. So next time, don’t think of it.
2) Eating Too Many Or Too Few Calories:
This is the most confusing thing I have ever heard from people at the start of my journey. Some tell me to eat a few calories for weight loss, and others tell me eating a few calories causes you less metabolism and cause your muscle loss. Confusing right? I know it is.
So what is the solution?
The solution depends on your body. You must experiment with the amount of calories you must consume to achieve consistent muscle growth and a balanced metabolism, and your journey to weight loss is in progress.
3) Too Many Cheat Meals:
You are a human being, and you are not a robot. You have desires and cravings, too. It is not possible to always follow your strict diet routine, so sometimes you can have a cheat meal. But make sure not to make this habit; what you do consciously.
I have experience in this. I was very strict in my diet so that I could lose weight fast. At some point in my life, I got stressed because of my busy schedule at work, and to complete those tasks and feel good, I started to treat myself. It started with a little cheat meal, but suddenly, without notice, it got more prominent, and I was totally addicted. Cheatat meal once a week seems pretty harmless, and you start with one in a week, then two, then three, and it goes on, and you find yourself addicted to it. Too many cheat meals slow your fat loss progression.

I am not telling you not to take cheat meals; I am not against it, even though I take cheat meals. I want to tell you that you can sometimes take cheat meals to reward yourself, but do not make it your habit. Cheating meals feel more enjoyable when you take them in, sometimes not daily.
4) Not Drinking Enough Water:
I made this mistake but learned a lesson from it. So, I followed my regular diet and also ate healthy meals, but I often felt tired and craved a snack. This slowed down my weight loss journey, and I didn’t know the proper reason for it. A month later, when I discussed this problem with my mentor, he addressed a silly but significant mistake: I was neglecting the importance of hydration.
Our body gets confused between hunger and dehydration, so there are times when you are thirsty, but your body thinks you are hungry. This leads to eating junk foods for instant satisfaction, which eventually causes your slow progression of weight loss. Staying healthy can help you speed up your weight loss journey and boost your metabolism and energy levels throughout the day.
Staying hydrated can help you speed up your weight loss journey and boost your metabolism and energy levels throughout the day.
5) Sugary Drink:
Ok, in the previous point, I told you always to stay hydrated, but this doesn’t mean that you always hydrated yourself with sugary drinks. It is better to keep dehydrated than to drink sugary beverages. Because it affects your body and slows down your progress. Because you take in more sugar and calories, even when you drink fruit juice, you take more sugar in your body because most of the fruit juice in the market is mixed up with high levels of sugar. So try to avoid this.
6) Focus On Just Exercises:
Most people make this mistake when they start their weight loss journey. Do not just rely on exercise. If you think just doing exercises can completely lose your weight, then you are wrong. Yes, exercise helps you reduce your weight, but not that much if you do not follow a proper diet. You can achieve more and faster results if you mix your diet with exercise.
7) No Weight Lift, Just Doing Cardio Exercises:
Most beginners, including me, make this mistake. People think that by doing only cardio exercises, you can achieve your weight loss goal, but this is not completely true. I am not against cardio helping you to lose fat, but it will do for the short term. If you want to make it fast and effective, you have to lift weights. Cardio helps you with fat loss just during the workout, but when you mix cardio exercises with lifting weights, it will help you burn your fat after the workout session and speed up your weight loss journey.
8) Not consistency:
You heard that probably, consistency is the key to success. It doesn’t matter in which field you are; if you are not consistent, you are not making any progress. The same logic goes for weight loss. You cannot lose weight if you are not consistent and in a routine. Routine helps me to stay on track, and in the long run, it become my habit. You can skip your routine once a week, thinking that you will fix it later, but it increases over time, and you find yourself not following any diet and not going to the gym, and you are completely distracted from your goal. So, make a routine and be consistent with that routine. In the long run, you will be amazed at your achievement.
9) Having Unrealistic Expectations:
Everything takes time, so don’t hurry or rush yourself, and don’t set unrealistic expectations or goals. People search on the internet for ways to lose 10 pounds in a week or make abs in a month. Do you think this is a one-week and one-month journey of losing weight and making abs?
If you set this amount of unrealistic expectations for you just to read some fancy article, you become disappointed and grow self-doubt. Instead, set a short but achievable goal like losing 2 pounds in an achievable week.
10) Not Seeking Professional Advice:
Many of us think that we know all about losing weight, so we search on Google and find out everything we need. It’s true, in the era of the internet, we find everything to guide us, but there is a problem. This guidance is for general use, and if you have any health condition like thyroid, it won’t work for you correctly, and some people seek advice from experts. If you have a professional mentor, then it is beneficial for you because, in this path, you know you are on the right path. Depending on your body type, your mentor will give you a diet plan and exercise routine that works better for you.
You can learn from different articles and videos on the net and implement them yourself, but I recommend seeking advice from a professional to ensure you are on the right path and that the journey will be easier for you.
Conclusion:
These are the most common mistakes I made during my weight loss journey. I hope you don’t make this mistake again. There are some other mistakes in my journey. Still, I feel that these are the most common mistakes that a beginner makes in his weight loss journey, and it is my personal opinion to take advice from a professional person because each of your body types is not the same. All the things you read on the internet are not working for you. Hence, it is good to seek advice from a professional.
